Exhibition Posters & Fliers

If you attended the demonstration on Saturday 20th September, you'll know we now have a selection of fliers and postcards to promote the upcoming 200th exhibition.

If you didn't manage to pick some up at the demo, you can download copies from our official website.   Just follow this link or email us at the Blog to request digital copies.

There's also a large high resolution poster that you can download.   This is a very big (9MB) file and can be accessed at the following site.

All three files are also available through the Blog downloads page.  Use this link for directions and follow the simple instructions.

Art Without Fuss

A few weeks ago the Art Without Fuss exhibition was held in St Helen's Church, Escrick.  You may recall we told you about it here earlier in the summer.

We're pleased to report that the event was a huge success with 23 artists exhibiting over 200 pictures and raising more than £500 for church funds.  Sadie Ashton would like to express her thanks to all members of the YAS who attended and displayed works.

Here's some photographs from the first day

York Art Society Self-Help Group

A few photographs from Lin Taylor showing last week's Self-Help meeting at St Andrew's  Church Hall, Bishopthorpe.  Always a popular event and one of the few Society activities that is entirely self-sufficient on funding.

On this occasion most of the participants were working on their entries for the forthcoming exhibition.

Thanks as always to Lin Taylor for her work in organising these sessions.  The next self-help event will be on Saturday 22 November.

Back by Popular Demand ........

After the success of their summer show, there'll be another pre-Christmas Art & Pottery exhibition at St Michael le Belfrey.

Once again the day will be helping to raise funds for local homeless charity The Never Give Up Group.   This is always a popular event - you can see photos from previous days elsewhere on the blog.

The dates for your diary are November 21st and 22nd - an ideal opportunity to support a worthy local cause and snap up some  one-of-a-kind Christmas presents.

" I spent a delightful evening at the Heslington Church Flower and Art Festival last night.  The flower ladies had each chosen a painting as a back drop to their arrangements and selected flowers of similar colours; with quite stunning results. George Smith had donated greenery from his garden and been given a private tour earlier in the evening.

All of the paintings and flowers are for sale and Mark Hearld had donated a limited edition litho print which is being sold by silent auction "    Julie Lightburn

The Festival continues Sunday 7th September
